Treating cat for hairball problem, big problem NOW!!

Cat has had hairball problems 2weeks ago and again beginning Friday.

Treated with Hartz hairball meds both times.

Was OK first time, but now is lethargic and having some difficulty with consciousness. Rolls head and neck backwards. Had soft stool, caused by meds, yesterday. Sleeping a lot, could this be from weakness of not eating enough since Friday? He is 8 years, weighs abt 15 lbs, was diag. with heart murmur in 2005/06.

Has hidden some as he did when he nearly died from a cyst under his chin in 2007 until last night when he slept with me nearly all night.

Could he be dying – Do I need to take him to the vet he sees in Meridian, MS?

    Hi Vicki,

You should call an emergency vet ASAP!!!! You cat should be seen by a vet who can determine what is happening with it before it’s too late.

You did not send your zip code, so I guessed based on your area code. Here are two clinics that might be helpful and they provide emergency care:

    Animal Emergency Clinic
    607 Monroe St
    Jackson, MS 39202
    601-352-8383

    Randall Veterinary Hospital
    5919 Terry Rd
    Byram, MS 39272
    601-371-0895

    Sincerely,
