I just had to put a dog down, and my older dog is now alone. She keeps looking for her. It is so sad; I always thought she would go first. She has had more health problems. Now I am scared for her. I want to make her comfortable and find her a new friend. How long is it good to wait?

How long should I wait before getting new pet for my other pets?
Thursday, January 5th, 2012Rat health problem
Thursday, December 29th, 2011My boyfriend has a pet rat named Agatha, and she is less than a year old. However, she has been acting strange and we just noticed it, but have never even seen or heard of these symptoms. I can only describe it.
She walks forward, sucks in her stomach at the waist, to the point where she looks emaciated, and this makes it hard for her to balance as she keeps walking, so her hind legs drag a little. He says it looks as though she’s trying to turn by standing with both legs, limp, in one spot. I think it looks as though she tries to bend herself in half like a hose.
We looked everywhere for symptoms list, and could not identify what was going on. She still eats, is active, playful, but does a look a little tired. The problem just started today.
If anybody knows what’s wrong with Agatha, please help!

Help! My dog has bad breath!
Wednesday, December 21st, 2011Whenever I pet my dog or someone else pets my dog he opens his mouth. I have never been able to understand why he opens his mouth when being petted. I want to make my dog understand that he should not open his mouth when being petted. How to make my dog not open his mouth when he is being pet by anyone?
The reason i don’t want him to open his mouth when being petted is because he has bad breath. He has no health problems because he is only 2 years old, so i don’t think vet is needed.
How do you know when it’s time to give-up a pet?
Sunday, December 18th, 2011I have two parakeets–one of them I’ve had for around four years, the other one I got about a year ago. Since we got the new one, my mother has gotten double pneumonia and had to go the hospital, and I’ve had bronchitis five times already. My doctor and the hospital said it’s most likely the birds. I try to keep the cage as clean as possible, and I’ve got an air purifier too. But I’m just so busy with school now and life.
I’m in my junior year in high school and I know I’ll be going away soon, another factor to consider. But I’m also centering my career around animals (I want to be an animal behaviorist) and I feel giving up pets I chose to take in would make me the biggest hypocrite in the world. How can i start a career with animals when I can’t even take care of them at home?

Cat health question, is this a problem?
Thursday, December 15th, 2011My cat is eight years old, a little fat (or alot). But anyway she has a swelling on her chin about the size of a small pea. I don’t know what it is but I’m a little concerned because I have known the occasional dog to get cancer there. Is this normal or is it a problem.
Thank you,
Shiela
Please help with my pet chicken’s health problem
Tuesday, December 13th, 2011I need some help badly, I found a chicken wandering the woods about 7 or so months ago, it came up to my house I guess because I have a pool and it wanted a drink, I fed it and well it never left, the rooster kind of grew on me and well I like it and it’s my pet now. The rooster has been fine but today it didn’t sing or come up to the door; it usually comes up because that’s where his plate with food is place. Now that I was about to put it to sleep it seems sad and one of its eyes is closed and it looks very watery and kind of slimy. Does my pet have an infection? I’m really worried. Is there anything I can do like flush the eye with some sort of medicine or should I just take it to the vet?
My pet rat has health problem!
Sunday, December 11th, 2011I have 2 rats and one is fat and the other is skin and bone. When I feed them, the big rat doesn’t let the little one eat, so I feed her separately, but she eats very little and runs on her wheel all the time! She’s all skin and bones. I don’t know what to do! I came home yesterday to find the skinny one cold and delirious-like. I got hand warmers and food, got her better, but I don’t want that to happen again. Please help!

Is my pet has health problem or she is ready to lay eggs
Saturday, December 10th, 2011My White’s Tree Frog has a liquid substance coming out of her rectum. The liquid is the consistency of thick syrup and it’s just hanging there. I’ve been tipped off that she could be ready to lay her eggs, is this true? If not what could this possibly be?
Thanks so much.
My rabbit is ill and I will be taking her to the vet ASAP, but what can I do in the meantime?
Friday, December 9th, 2011I just noticed last night that my rabbit has a grumpy eye and a runny eye. Has anyone ever experienced this with their rabbit? I just now noticed that she also isn’t eating and has lost weight. I can feel her spine. I’m calling the vet tomorrow to get her in, but I feel so bad for her.
Tell me your experiences with a sick rabbit. By the way, she’s approx. 4 years old and not spayed.
Thanks,
BJ
