Feline upper respiratory infection

Hi,

I don’t know if you can answer me or give me some advice, but anything would be appreciated!

I recently got a kitten from the Humane Society and he ended up having a URI. He is now on antibiotics.

My already 8 year old cat now has a very runny eye. It is just the one eye and it is squinty and with clear/yellow colored discharge.

I asked the vet about it when I was there and he said that since she is older, she will probably be able to fight off the URI. He said to just keep and eye on her.

I am however a little worried. I have been applying a warm compress to her eye for as long as she will allow me to, a few times a day.

How long should I wait before bringing her in to the vet, and are there any over the counter eye drops or creams that you could recommend to me for her? And is this a common symptom of URI to have only one watery eye?

Thank you so much,

From a worried cat mom!
