My cat, Wenci, is 18. He’s been my best friend forever and my baby. I have all kinds of memories that he’s a part of. He’s the most cherished pet I’ve ever had (we had dog and another cat for a while), and I’m not ready to let him go. We thought he was healthy for a lengthy time; aside from a heart murmur and arthritis, he was doing very well for his age. We recently moved a long distance, and he started acting weird. We thought that he was just upset about moving and the brand-new environment, so we let him get adjusted. After a few weeks, though, we figured it couldn’t possibly still be the new house bugging him, so we brought him to the vet. They ran X-Rays and found a tumor. We don’t know how long he has, but I was wondering if there was a way to make him better and live longer, or at the very least, make him comfortable. He’s too old to operate on, and the vet has been giving him antibiotics to increase his appetite and get rid of any other infections, but if there’s anything else that can be done, please tell me because I’m having problems letting go, and I don’t want him to go. He seems to feel alright, because he’s walking around and eating more, so please don’t tell me that the most humane thing to do would be to put him down. I just want to know how to make him live longer or make his last few weeks comfortable. Thank you for your help!

My cat has cancer, what can I do?
Monday, July 16th, 2012My cat has cancer of the larynx and I want to help him
Saturday, February 20th, 2010 My cat has a tumor in front of his larynx. It’s big and it’s getting harder for him to swallow. We found out too late that he had cancer. The vet is afraid to take a biopsy due to making the tumor angry and causing it to grow faster. I need to know if there is anything at this late stage to shrink the tumor so he will stop suffering. I may have to put him down soon. He is gulping when he swallows. I just found out on Thursday that he had a tumor and it’s getting harder for him to swallow. He may have a collapsed lung and pneumonia due to trying to breath harder. The vet is concerned that intubating him will cause cancer cells to break off and go down the throat.
Please help. He is almost 11 pounds and weighed 17 pounds on Thursday. He lost a pound yesterday when I went to get him an iv. He still wants to eat, especially cat treats.
thank you
Kim
