What is the process for home euthansia?

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

I am wondering how the process works to have someone come to my house to put my dog to sleep?

I am trying to prepare for the not to distant future and I am wondering how much it will cost to have this done. I just hate to take her to have her put down because she really gets nervous taking her to the vet. She has spent allot of time there the last few years, she is fifteen years old.

I don’t think it will be much longer until I need to do this so I am trying to come up with a plan proactively.

Thank you

Should my kids be there when we put our dog down?

Hello – I hope you can give some advice…I’m the mother of two small kids ages 4 and 7, and my 16 year old dog has some serious health issues and is suffering.  We’ve chosen to have her put down.

This dog has been a part of their lives since they were born and we all love her and will miss her.  I’ve scheduled a house-call vet to come out to our house for this to minimize the stress and let her pass in her own home, but I’m torn on whether to have our kids present for this.

What are your feelings on this matter?

How much does home euthanasia cost?

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I am mom to 5 dogs and the oldest one is in very poor health and I’m facing the fact that I’ll probably have to put him down so that he does not suffer unnecessarily.

I’d like to find out what the costs are to have someone come out to our house to do this. I don’t want to put him through the ordeal of another office visit and I can’t face the thought of driving home alone.

Can you help?

Search for local house call vet for at-home euthanasia

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Hi,

I hope you can help me. My wonderful companion of the past 12 years is getting ready to leave me. She’s in increasing pain and the vet told me there is nothing more to be done for it. She has been failing pretty fast this past week and I want to have a local veterinarian on standby that can come out if I need it to put her to sleep at home.

These arrangements are so heartbreaking for me to make, but I want her to spend her last days surrounded by her loving family while she can still enjoy it, and then help her to go when the pain becomes unbearable for her.

I was not able to find someone local using your site. Can you help me?

I live in Santa Ana, California.
