6 year old dog’s eyes were watery and he was doing a lot of eye squinting,,,,
March 22nd, 2008I noticed that my 6 year old dog’s eyes were watery and he was doing a lot of eye squinting,,,,I checked him out head to toe and discovered a lump/swelling on left side of his throat….took him to my vet…a needle aspiration led my vet to feel that we might be dealing with an infected salivary gland.. my vet said my dog did have an elevated temp.I am waiting on cytology lab results…..my vet prescribed Clindadrops…I am worried because his symptoms have been going on now for 2 and a half days….do you have any idea what might be going on with my dog? Any possible conditions for me to research would be greatly appreciated… I just can’t figure out what is causing the eye squinting and is it related to the swelling in his throat area

Rimydal alternative for 16 y/o dog with limp?
March 21st, 2008My Sister has a 16yrs old Dachshund/Poodle mix, who has a severe limp, Xrays normal, does not want to give him Rimydal because of possible side effects. Is there anything else which could give him relief and hopefully a cure? He still wants to go for walks etc.
Thank you for your consideration.
4 year old doggie was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
March 7th, 2008This past fall, my St.Bernard/Golden Retriever, 4 year old doggie was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I had him on about 3 months of chemo, and he was doing very well on it, but decided to take him off of it to go a holistic approach. The chemo just seemed too traumatic of an approach. I tried a couple holistic approaches, but am thinking I might not have given any one of them a really whole-hearted approach. And now I’m kicking myself because his lymph nodes are enlarged, and looks like I absolutely have to put him back on the chemo.
I’m going to do both chemo and holistic, it looks like. If anyone has any sure fire holistic approaches that they recommend, please let me know. For some reason, this whole thing is difficult for me to confront…. Especially the chemo aspect. I’m just in denial that there’s anything wrong with him.
Aside from enlarged lymph nodes, he is exceedingly healthy, lively, playful and full of life. I think it would be helpful to have some sort of reassurance that certain approaches really do help and that I’m doing the right thing. I feel a little overwhelmed and really don’t know if any of what I’ve done was the right thing or not. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

March 4th, 2008White Corgi whose paws turn pink
February 20th, 2008I have a 10-year-old Corgi who has been in pretty good health his whole life. But sometimes some of the white fur on his front paws turns a pinkish hue and he begins to lick them quite a bit. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? We live in Wisconsin – might the cold weather have something to do with it?
Thanks!
8 y/o Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever with thyroid and allergy problems
February 12th, 2008I have a female Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She is about 8 years old. I am told she is typical of the Goldens in that her Thyroid Gland seems to be non existent. She has very bad seasonal allergies.
I’ve had two blood tests done for her. We have her on 4 different pills that are just barely effective.
Thank You
8 y/o eight year old beagle with unexplained problems. Help!:
February 9th, 2008Our eight year old beagle mix started drinking excessive water and urinating inside and outside. A urine sample from our vet showed sugar, cut blood test was negative for diabetes. A songoram showed nothing. She’s eating well and is still active. We give her Hill’s k/d canned food, but our vet had no other suggestions. Is there nothing else we can do?
Thank You
12 y/o Cairn Terrier with allergies
February 6th, 2008I have a cairn terrier – male- about 12 years old. He is frisky and in pretty good overall health except on occasion he gets terrible skin allergies and his whole body feels hot. When this happens I notice that his breath also gets really bad. I changed his food to an all natural vegetarian diet about 9 months ago and everything cleared up. He was happy and his coat looked better than it ever has and his breath was not bad. I thought I had solved the problem but then out of nowhere it happened again. I just wish I knew the source of this problem. Any suggestions? I don’t like to give him cortisone shots and prefer natural ways of dealing with problems if possible. I would really like to know how to prevent this in the future. He gets 1/2 can of food in the morning and 1 cup of dry food at night. No table food but he does get a little piece of cheese each morning to take a thyroid pill. AT night he gets a small natural treat at bedtime. He always acts hungry.
Thank You
