A “natural” remedy is possible for an ear infection if it is due to a yeast infection. Many times those are related to the environment inside the ear or an allergy problem. If it is environmental, using cleaning solutions that change the pH and dry out the moisture will help the problem. If allergies are an issue, than trying to reduce or eliminate the offending allergen will help.
If the infection is bacterial in origin, then our practice recommends the use of antibiotics. Environmental control (with cleaners) are used to try to prevent recurrence. The only way to know the cause of an infection is by doing a laboratory evaluation of the discharge as well as a thorough exam of the ear as well as the rest of the patient.
I hope this has helped.
