I have a macaw that suddenly is having matted mucus eyes

I have a macaw that was given to me over 7 years ago and suddenly he is having matted mucus eyes and I do not know what to do.

I do not have a car and am on disability so can not really take him anywhere to see a vet.

I live about 32 miles from the closest town.

He is not a tame bird he is a biter and stresses so easy.

Please what can I do for him?
