Helping pet owners get health help For their pets

How do I get the best relationship with a horse?

My aunt recently got a horse, and she said that if I take care of it whenever possible I can be part owner. It’s not very often that I can get out there to help, but I help her clean out the paddock, get more hay, clean out the trough, get the rocks out of his shoes, etc. But what I do need to know is with only seeing the horse every other week or so, how do I get the best relationship with the horse out of the time I have with him (I’m with him once every other week ). Any suggestions are welcome . He isn’t ready to be ridden yet, not old enough, almost though.

Thank you.

Animals respond best to gentle and inviting behaviors. The best way to create a deep bond with an animal is to let them come to you first – this is even true with very well socialized and friendly animals. It suggests a deeper respect by welcoming them over to you in the most harmless of manners instead of you being the one to approach them. I’d also pocket his favorite treats for those meetings and just be a soothing presence. As you feel that bond growing, you’ll probably develop your own repertoire or even games with him that he’ll associate just with you. But the most important thing is to never force anything or hurry it along. When these things happen naturally, it allows the animal to feel the most comfortable with you.

    Good Luck ^_^
