Yesterday I brought home a little sick kitty from my fiance’s house. He lives on a farm, and this is a barn kitten that has an eye infection and a slight col, runny nose, but no raspy breathing. My fiance’s mother couldn’t bring him in the house to treat him because she already has her hands full with 2 indoor bottle baby goats, 2 other kittens with the same eye infection and her bird breeding business.
He is on a medicated eye ointment and amoxicillin, and just started treatment yesterday. I am feeding him a wet food diet because of low weight.
What else can I do to make him for comfortable? Any tips or ideas?
Maybe keep him in a box with a heating pad underneath to help regulate his body temp. Also, use slightly moistened cotton balls to remove any gunk from his nose and eyes, so he can breath and see better. You should notice any improvement rather quickly since you just started treatment.
If he doesn’t seem to improve in the next few days, or looks like he’s getting worse, take him back to the vet., But it sounds like he’s found a loving foster! You’ve thought of everything. Goodluck!
