My six year old black lab suddenly woke up and is “trying” to vomit.
All that is coming up is bile. She acts like something is “stuck” or has a hairball. The heaving is very dry and the hacking is a dry almost scream.
She is healthy, ate a good supper at 6 pm, has access to plenty of water all day. Don’t know what to do for her. There is not an emergency after hours clinic near my home from what I can tell. Need some immediate feedback please. I am in Lake Wylie, SC just south of Charlotte, NC.

Thank you for your response and information. I did locate Carolina Vet Specialists.
Haley has Kennel Cough from being boarded at a kennel last week. She escalated from bronchitis to pneumonia because she aspirated resulting in food in her lungs. Lots of meds. Very hopeful. She is resting, I am a wreck.
Thanks again for the info.

Marie
