What is your recommendation re heart worm? Our dogs are about 6 and 7 yrs old, one has chronic allergy related health problems which have improved w/a sarf diet and minimal vaccs…we haven’t gotten them vaccinated for about 5 yrs now. We live in an area which has lots of mosquitoes. What do you recommend re heart worm?
Thanks
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on a reoccurring issue we have with one of our cats. It seems that every 2 months we have to take our 8yr old orange mix t the vet because of chronic constipation. They do an enema each time which solves the problem for 2 months. Last night was the 3rd time we have taken him to the vet for the same thing. After the 1st time (4months ago) the vet suggested canned pumpkin daily and Colace every other day, which we thought was working out great since his stool was a lot softer than previous. Now our vet wants to start him on Cisipride and prescription Hills W/D food. All of our cats already eat Hills Adult and we have always used Hills brand food since kittens. From what I have read in several previous posted forums this could be megacolon and high fiber could be making the issue worse. Any advice?
How successful are holistic treatments for a dog with epilepsy? I want to find alternatives for the medication my dog is currently on because he does not seem to be doing well with them.
Thank You!
I noticed that my 6 year old dog’s eyes were watery and he was doing a lot of eye squinting,,,,I checked him out head to toe and discovered a lump/swelling on left side of his throat….took him to my vet…a needle aspiration led my vet to feel that we might be dealing with an infected salivary gland.. my vet said my dog did have an elevated temp.I am waiting on cytology lab results…..my vet prescribed Clindadrops…I am worried because his symptoms have been going on now for 2 and a half days….do you have any idea what might be going on with my dog? Any possible conditions for me to research would be greatly appreciated… I just can’t figure out what is causing the eye squinting and is it related to the swelling in his throat area

My Sister has a 16yrs old Dachshund/Poodle mix, who has a severe limp, Xrays normal, does not want to give him Rimydal because of possible side effects. Is there anything else which could give him relief and hopefully a cure? He still wants to go for walks etc.
Thank you for your consideration.
I have a female Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She is about 8 years old. I am told she is typical of the Goldens in that her Thyroid Gland seems to be non existent. She has very bad seasonal allergies.
I’ve had two blood tests done for her. We have her on 4 different pills that are just barely effective.
Thank You
Our eight year old beagle mix started drinking excessive water and urinating inside and outside. A urine sample from our vet showed sugar, cut blood test was negative for diabetes. A songoram showed nothing. She’s eating well and is still active. We give her Hill’s k/d canned food, but our vet had no other suggestions. Is there nothing else we can do?
Thank You
History: I have a male bichon frise that has had gastric problems most of his adult life. He takes Metoclopram and Tylan 30 minutes before eating. He had the problem of throwing up some sort of yellow frothy stuff. It took a long time to get him regulated and now that he is regulated it will be for the rest of his life that he has to take this medicine. I always had trouble with this dog eating his Iams. I think he had a slight allergy to it. I have recently changed to the Senior Nutro dry food. It has Glucosamine and Chrondroitin in it. It appears to have helped his appetite. He actually eats it and likes it. My question: Will he really have to take that medicine the rest of his life? I was hoping that since I have had such good luck with this food that maybe he can do without his medicine now?
Thank You
