My grandparents are unable to lift their dog anymore and have asked me to help them give him a bath. The easiest place to give him a bath is in the tubs in the basement, but this requires lifting him three or four feet up into the tub. He’s twelve years old (about 40 pounds) and is used to this – and hates baths. He knows me very well. I love spending time at my grandparents playing with him, and I walk and brush him regularly! I have no problem lifting that much weight, but I’m concerned about lifting an unwilling (and fairly large) squirming dog. What is the best way to lift a dog this size so that he is comfortable and feels secure?

Whenever I pet my dog or someone else pets my dog he opens his mouth. I have never been able to understand why he opens his mouth when being petted. I want to make my dog understand that he should not open his mouth when being petted. How to make my dog not open his mouth when he is being pet by anyone?
The reason i don’t want him to open his mouth when being petted is because he has bad breath. He has no health problems because he is only 2 years old, so i don’t think vet is needed.

My 13 year old Golden has been on Prednisone and Previcox alternating daily for the past 5-6 years. He’s now having a terrible time with his bowels. He’s had two episodes in the house, it’s just like water. I’ve tried several medications, but nothing seems to work? When I walk him he squats to poop, and once he starts going he gets up to walk while he continues to have poop coming out. Poor guy goes 5-10 times a day and it’s always either very lose or liquid. My vet just said to take away all food and give him nothing but rice for now and continue giving him the prescription medication to stop diarrhea twice a day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

I have a 10 year old dachshund and has always been very healthy. All of a sudden he has gained a lot of weight, he seems to be going blind, and today we noticed a small lump on his neck. It seems to be somewhat hard and jagged. He is acting mostly normal except a little slow since his sight is going.
Both my wife and I recently lost our jobs so we cant afford expensive vet bills so we have been putting off taking him to the vet but the small lump we found today made us worry.
Any ideas what we could be looking at here?
Thank you for your help,
Jason

Hi, I am hoping you can help me with my cocker poo, she is 14 years old today, she seems to have what sounds like a choking sound , it starts off like she is gasping and then clears her throat, she does not wear a collar, we only use the harness on her since day one, I am not sure if it is allergies or a trachea problem. Sometime ago I had a heart ultrasound done for her because one vet thought that it would be her heart so $350.00 dollars it was not , thank God
What do you think it could be?
Thank you for your time
Mary Ann
