My cat has a lot of fleas and his medicine isn’t working

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

My cat has a lot of fleas and his medicine(frontline) isn’t working.

My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat and he sleeps in my bed every night. Lately I’ve noticed a lot of fleas on him, on my bed, and all over my room. There has also been salt like specs which are apparently flea eggs all over my comforter. I love my cat and I don’t want to kick him out of my bed! Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem?

Thanks,

John

How often do you apply Frontline to your dog?

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

I’ve been applying it once a month because we live out in a country area with lots of ticks, but I’m wondering if that’s to much. How often do you all apply frontline to your dogs?

This is a stupid question that I should probably know, but when is flea season?

Thanks

Could a dog flea problem cause diarrhea?

Monday, December 5th, 2011

My dog has a minor flea infestation and frontline is very difficult to apply to her oily skin.  Anyway, she has been having diarrhea for around 3 days now.  Could the flea problem be causing the diarrhea?  She also threw up at the beginning of the diarrhea period.

Thank you.

Randy

Could these be tick eggs?

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Its been raining a lot this year and its created a big tick problem.  I have a puppy that goes out and comes back with some every time which I pick off immediately.  I have treated them and have been removing as many as i can.  He just came in with something on his head that looked like dirt but when I brushed it off, it was stuck to him.  Are these tick eggs? I treated him for ticks and Im unsure what to do.  Should I wash him, let the medication work or what?  What do tick eggs look like?

Dogs scratching even though no fleas

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

I have 2 dogs that are scratching themselves raw.  I checked for fleas and they had a couple so I got rid of them by using Frontline.

They don’t have fleas but they keep scratching and it is driving me crazy.  They are both doing it.  Could it be a reaction to the flea meds?  What else could it be?

My dog has a fungus problem that just won’t go away

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

About three years ago my 2 year old King Charles Spaniel was diagnosed with fungus on his skin.  At the time my vet told me to bath him in betadine, leaving on his skin for 5 minutes before shampooing him off and that seemed to help for a little while. Next I tried an antifungal cream which also helped but smelled TERRIBLE.  I’ve taken him to a specialist who gave me some wipes and other medication for the condition, but nothing seems to get a good handle on this reoccurring problem.

I’m at my wits end.  Can you help???

Help. My dog is scratching but doesn’t have fleas!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Hi, I just read your post on fleas and I wanted to tell you my story and hope you might offer some help.

I have a 10 y/old Chihuahua that’s constantly scratching. I’ve tried giving her a bath every 2 – 3 weeks but that hasn’t helped. She doesn’t have fleas and I haven’t seen anything else on her. Sometimes she scratches till she is almost bleeding.

Could this simply be dry skin?

What else can I do to help her stop scratching?

Please help. She’s miserable.

Thank you,

Diana

Frontline plus reaction in dog. I need advice.

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I administered Frontline plus to my dog (11 lbs) first treatment, three days ago, he has been to the vet twice with diarrea/vomitting, red spots.

The vomiting has stopped still has diarrhea and now he will not eat and just lays around tail down.

My dog was prescribed Metoclopramide 5mg w tablets twice daily and Amforol #3 1/2 tablet twice a day.

I really don’t know if I should give him more medicine, he has had so much already.

Do you have any other advice for me?

Karen

Besides myself with fleas! Help!!!

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

I absolutely don’t know what to do right now.

I have this terrible flea problem, and I have done everything. I vacuumed, shampooed the carpets, put down that carpet sprinkle stuff, used the in house spray, bombed every room of the house, sprayed outside, and frontlined my animals…

Then my friend brought her dog over, and now he is covered in fleas.

One of my cats and my dog seem fine now. But my other poor cat is having some sort of reaction or something. At first I put a flea collar on him and then noticed that all the hair was missing on the bottom part of his neck. So, I took it off and did the frontline. He has no fleas, but now he is missing all the hair on his chest and one of his legs.

I feel like a terrible person. I feel so bad for him, but I don’t know what to do.

Flea problems that just won’t quit. I’ve tried everything. HELP!

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I have a new dog & am currently using the flea control that goes between the shoulder blades. My vet said every other month, but it is not working.

I have used 2 times, 4 weeks in between.

It is now 2 weeks since last application. It seems very strong & I am concerned about toxic implications.

Is there anything else I can ask for from my vet or get from a local pet store that is holistic, organic, or not as strong?

Thanks,
Jane
