I have 2 dogs that are scratching themselves raw.  I checked for fleas and they had a couple so I got rid of them by using Frontline.
They don’t have fleas but they keep scratching and it is driving me crazy.  They are both doing it.  Could it be a reaction to the flea meds?  What else could it be?

I have a 4 y/o basset that has been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis. I don’t want to continue with the steroid treatment my vet prescribed because I know it has severe long term side effects.
I have him on antihistimines and I also have a teatree oil and aloe spray for his really itchy spots. We have also been giving him baths in oatmeal &  aloe shampoo and conditioner.
He just seems miserble as his antihistimines wear off just before his next dose time.
What can I do to help him?
The steroids had nasty side effects while he was on them.
I don’t want to put him back on steroids and I have an alternative medicine book on dog allergies but I don’t know what to do right now.
Any advice out there?
Thanks, Dori

About three years ago my 2 year old King Charles Spaniel was diagnosed with fungus on his skin.  At the time my vet told me to bath him in betadine, leaving on his skin for 5 minutes before shampooing him off and that seemed to help for a little while. Next I tried an antifungal cream which also helped but smelled TERRIBLE.  I’ve taken him to a specialist who gave me some wipes and other medication for the condition, but nothing seems to get a good handle on this reoccurring problem.
I’m at my wits end.  Can you help???

Hi, I just read your post on fleas and I wanted to tell you my story and hope you might offer some help.
I have a 10 y/old Chihuahua that’s constantly scratching. I’ve tried giving her a bath every 2 – 3 weeks but that hasn’t helped. She doesn’t have fleas and I haven’t seen anything else on her. Sometimes she scratches till she is almost bleeding.
Could this simply be dry skin?
What else can I do to help her stop scratching?
Please help. She’s miserable.
Thank you,
Diana

I administered Frontline plus to my dog (11 lbs) first treatment, three days ago, he has been to the vet twice with diarrea/vomitting, red spots.
The vomiting has stopped still has diarrhea and now he will not eat and just lays around tail down.
My dog was prescribed Metoclopramide 5mg w tablets twice daily and Amforol #3 1/2 tablet twice a day.
I really don’t know if I should give him more medicine, he has had so much already.
Do you have any other advice for me?
Karen

I have a new dog & am currently using the flea control that goes between the shoulder blades. My vet said every other month, but it is not working.
I have used 2 times, 4 weeks in between.
It is now 2 weeks since last application. It seems very strong & I am concerned about toxic implications.
Is there anything else I can ask for from my vet or get from a local pet store that is holistic, organic, or not as strong?
Thanks,
Jane

Our dog had an allergic reaction to Frontline Plus. He broke out in welts and sores.
The vet prescribed prednisone and tonight he is panting like crazy, in addition to drinking and urinating frequently. The vet mentioned that panting might be a side effect but I am worried he is panting so fast.
Is there any concern with it progressing to a heart attack or other worse issue? The prednizone did seem to help the skin, but the panting is frightening.

my 7 yr old male indoor cat is alergic to fleas.  We can’t use the over the counter flea control on him because he looses his hair at that site and then gets a sore.  The one spot isn’t working. Please advise what we can to do assist him.  He’s pulling out his hair!!!
