Five days ago, I took home a lab mix which had been living with her three brothers for her entire life. She seems to have a bit of trouble adjusting to no longer having them for security. She does not like to be left alone and will follow me everywhere I go in the house; I believe she is attracted to the authority, security and companionship I provide. She does not exhibit the behavior as strongly with the other members of the family. When gated in the kitchen at night, she howls and whines and causes a fuss. I’ve tried not to appease her, but I’ve found myself sleeping on the couch in the adjacent room so that she could see me. Last night, we let her roam both floors of the house at night, and she spent the majority of the time right alongside my bed.
She is very insecure and does not like to be pet by strangers, although she is not aggressive. Is there any way I can boost her confidence and show her that people are good, and that being alone isn’t so bad?

My 10yr old basset Tucker has a bleeding lesion on his groin area for which we are about to see a vet. My 2y old pug mix usually sleeps inside with us but for the past week he has slept outside and refuses to leave Tucker’s side. He has this expression of sadness on his face and genuinely seems concerned about his buddy. I think he’s worried. What do you think?

I want a dog preferably a small to midsized. All my family and friends have one except me my brother and my parents.
Here’s the thing, we want one we all do but its just that we are vacationers and I think we wont have enough time for the dog even though we only travel on Christmas and summer and for no more than 1 week and a half. What should I do?

Prada lost her welcome in my son’s room the other day because she chewed up 2 hair brushes and some toys in there. He doesn’t want her in there to destroy more of his things. Now she whines to go back in there. It wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t have this loud, ear bursting whine. It is an awful high pitch sound that really hurts our ears. We tell her no & try to redirect her but soon she is back to it again!
What will I do?

My paw-wee just developed a hematoma on the end flap of her ear. Actually, it takes up nearly half her ear in under an hour (about 2 inches long by 1.5 inches across).
Her appointment to be spayed and have her tumor removed is in 2 weeks. The vet insisted it be three weeks after her heat cycle. Is it okay to let the hematoma go that long? We’re calling the vet in the morning, but can’t seem to find an answer on how long is too long.

My dalmatian is starting to get dry skin on his back. Its not itching him at all. just starting to flake a little. I know I have to be careful about the protein in take. I was thinking about putting an egg in his food. then I was thinking about some oil in his food. Just would like to get some advice. Thanks.

My dog refuses to eat or drink even though he has fresh food and cold water, until someone gets home. Is this a kind of separation anxiety? He eats like we’ve been starving him when we get home.
Thank you.

I have a rescue dog who is part Border Collie and part Hound, so he has extremely strong herding/hunting instincts. He has been out to get my cat since we adopted him almost 2 years ago, but she stays away from him and lives upstairs (where he isn’t allowed). I’m going to college soon and would like my cat to be able to safely go downstairs to be with the rest of my family, but she can’t with the dog behavior. Any tips for dog/cat fighting problems?
