Incision developed lump. Question on it

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

My 11 month old Dane had OCD surgery this passed Tuesday. He is very hyper from being in the crate, he was prescribed Ace and Tramdol. He is around 150 pounds, we have tried keeping him off the leg as much as possible. His stitches looked good, he appeared like he was healing well, and today he has developed a lump filled with fluid ( feels like water buildup) below his incision.

I wanted to make sure this was normal and didn’t need to have a vet visit. Is it going to go away, or will it eventually drain out etc? Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

What is the recovery rate for dogs that have cancer or tumors on their paws?

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

I have a 6 year old female Rottweiler and she is the love of our family.

I realized that once morning that her paw is swollen and her toe was huge so I immediately took her to the vet and they said that it looked infected they prescribed antibiotics. The vet also said that there seems to be a small growth and that it may be cancerous.

She has been taken 3 doses of her antibiotics this morning. I noticed that she did not eat her 1 cup of food this morning. I called the vet and they said that she may just be having some stomach problems and to wait till this evening and if she does not eat by then to be worried. Also her paw looks less swollen yet the toe itself looks more swollen.

I don’t know how worried I should be.

Also what is the recovery rate for dogs that have cancer or tumors on their toe/paw? Any general experiences or advice is greatly accepted!!!!

Bichon with a cyst on tail

Monday, December 1st, 2008

My bichon has either a cyst or growth which is on his tail.

He is quite healthy but I am concerned about this. My vet indicates surgery is not a good option on the tail as their is not enough skin and the result could be infection and end result possibly his losing a portion of the tail.

Is there something I could do as putting semi-hot soaks on this to open this?
