My cat has dry, itchy skin that flakes.

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

She’s had tight, dry skin for some time, but now that it’s winter and the flakes are pretty evident in her fur. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can give her that can take away the dryness. The air gets REALLY dry here in the winters, due to the kind of climate I live in. Any tips?

Oily fur standing up my cat

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

This seems like a bizarre symptom, but I read it on a symptom list the other day and can’t remember what it was for. When I got back, my cat had developed this symptom. For at least 24 hours, the fur down her back is standing straight up as though there’s static electricity caught in it, though there’s not, and it’s very oily looking only in that area.

Any idea what this could be? I think I was going down a list of malabsorption illnesses at the time I found it, but I can’t remember clearly.

Cats and Carrots

Saturday, September 8th, 2012

Are plain chopped up carrots good for cats? Our cat has decided he really likes them, and I thought they would be a great and healthy treat for him every now and then so I want to know if it is okay to give him carrots?

If one of my cats got tapeworms do all my pets need dewormer?

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

The infected cat was given dewormer, as well as my other cat who was at the vet anyway. However, there are two other cats and one dog in the house. Do they all need dewormer? The vet said I should bring them all in, but is that really necessary? I’m having trouble determining if tapeworms are contagious or not. Help!!!

My kitten is too skinny

Tuesday, August 7th, 2012

HELP!! I’m fostering a kittens and one of them its too skinny. He is all bones, and I’m afraid he might die. What happens is that he gets too excited and instead of drinking out of the bottle he fights with it. He almost wanted to swallow the bottle once I try to feed him and when it’s finally in his mouth, he will eat very little. His brother is doing the same thing and I have notice weight change in them. We feed them 3 times a day, but he doesn’t eat much. I wrap him like a tamale and then feed him, at times that works. They are 5 weeks old and have a full set of teeth but still don’t want to eat soft food, help me PLEASE.

My Cat has unstoppable dandruff

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

My cat has crazy dandruff. I tried bathing her but she freaked out and pooped in the tub. We brush her at least once a day. She didn’t use to have a problem, and we haven’t made a sudden change in her diet or environment. What will I do now? It’s super gross.

Strange cat behavior

Saturday, July 21st, 2012

I recently adopted a new cat three days ago. He has a basket where he sleeps, where there is his special blanket from the shelter.

I walk into to check on him, and he plays and then goes into his basket. He will knead the blanket with his claws and then bite onto the blanket and suck and gnaw on it. I’m confused and want to know why he does this.

Thank you in advance.

How long does it take for tumors to form on a cat?

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

I have a nine month old female cat and about three months ago and I got a male cat too. We thought maybe my female was pregnant cause her nipples started to swell, and now she has huge golf ball size bumps on her belly. She acts pregnant but not sure.  I was wondering if anyone could help me out. How long does it usually take for tumors to get huge if they are?  This all started when the male cat came to live with us. Help!

My cat has cancer, what can I do?

Monday, July 16th, 2012

My cat, Wenci, is 18. He’s been my best friend forever and my baby. I have all kinds of memories that he’s a part of.  He’s the most cherished pet I’ve ever had (we had  dog and another cat for a while), and I’m not ready to let him go. We thought he was healthy for a lengthy time; aside from a heart murmur and arthritis, he was doing very well for his age. We recently moved a long distance, and he started acting weird. We thought that he was just upset about moving and the brand-new environment, so we let him get adjusted. After a few weeks, though, we figured it couldn’t possibly still be the new house bugging him, so we brought him to the vet. They ran X-Rays and found a tumor. We don’t know how long he has, but I was wondering if there was a way to make him better and live longer, or at the very least, make him comfortable. He’s too old to operate on, and the vet has been giving him antibiotics to increase his appetite and get rid of any other infections, but if there’s anything else that can be done, please tell me because I’m having problems letting go, and I don’t want him to go. He seems to feel alright, because he’s walking around and eating more, so please don’t tell me that the most humane thing to do would be to put him down. I just want to know how to make him live longer or make his last few weeks comfortable. Thank you for your help!
