I found a small bird (sparrow?) that is probably too young to fly. What do I need to do to keep him/her alive and strong enough until ready to go off on his own? Right now, he’s on a ledge probably hoping his mom will come to feed him. What do I do? Please help.

I need help with my small bird
Wednesday, May 16th, 2012Recommendations on how to help my cockatoo to stop self-mutilating and feather picking?
Thursday, April 19th, 2012I got her two years ago with the problem. She is now living with a flexible collar and does very well (her personality is actually more normal with the collar on than when she has it off and is preoccupied with picking). Just curious if anyone has any further ideas. She’s got a clean bill of health from the vet, a new diet, and the largest parrot cage on the market filled with toys. I’ve tried different cage locations and increased frequency of her baths (she hates spray bottles). I haven’t yet tried her with another cockatoo because I’m afraid she might hurt it since she hates my other birds. Thoughts?
Parakeets health problem
Sunday, January 15th, 2012Well I have 2 parakeets that my daddy just bought me and I have some health concerns about them.
When I got the first bird I opened the box and she flew out when her wings were clipped so she fell on her wing I guess and now she holds that wing away from her body and wont mess with it. Is her wing injured and how can I help? My second parakeet is good I just wonder about his toes. His toe nails are brownish kind of black and is there something wrong with that?
Any answers are appreciated. Thanks!
Chris
How do you know when it’s time to give-up a pet?
Sunday, December 18th, 2011I have two parakeets–one of them I’ve had for around four years, the other one I got about a year ago. Since we got the new one, my mother has gotten double pneumonia and had to go the hospital, and I’ve had bronchitis five times already. My doctor and the hospital said it’s most likely the birds. I try to keep the cage as clean as possible, and I’ve got an air purifier too. But I’m just so busy with school now and life.
I’m in my junior year in high school and I know I’ll be going away soon, another factor to consider. But I’m also centering my career around animals (I want to be an animal behaviorist) and I feel giving up pets I chose to take in would make me the biggest hypocrite in the world. How can i start a career with animals when I can’t even take care of them at home?

I have a macaw that suddenly is having matted mucus eyes
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009I have a macaw that was given to me over 7 years ago and suddenly he is having matted mucus eyes and I do not know what to do.
I do not have a car and am on disability so can not really take him anywhere to see a vet.
I live about 32 miles from the closest town.
He is not a tame bird he is a biter and stresses so easy.
Please what can I do for him?
