Should I adopt a pet, or let my other two cats have a baby?

Saturday, June 9th, 2012

My grandma wants a pet. Since she’s from another country and speaks very little English, she wouldn’t know how to adopt a pet on her own. Should I go to the pound to get her an adult cat of her own, or let my own two cats have a baby to give to her?  Time isn’t a problem, because she’s staying the whole summer.

Thanks you.

Squeeking Guinea Pig

Thursday, June 7th, 2012

Hey everyone, I just got two guinea pigs (one for my brother and one for myself) and my brothers always squeaks when you put her down or just when she is in her cage. I do understand guinea pigs squeak but she tends to do it a lot. For example, I put her in the cage and she was squeaking a lot. Why?

How do I stop a dog from whinning so much?

Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

Prada lost her welcome in my son’s room the other day because she chewed up 2 hair brushes and some toys in there. He doesn’t want her in there to destroy more of his things. Now she whines to go back in there. It wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t have this loud, ear bursting whine. It is an awful high pitch sound that really hurts our ears. We tell her no & try to redirect her but soon she is back to it again!

What will I do?

Why is my kitten so fat?

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

My kitten is so fat. I only feed her like a cup each day, half a cup in the morning and half a cup in the night.  I don’t feed her free whenever she want’s it, she gets a certain amount of food each! But she seems like she always wants more! What will I do? Should I give her more? Help.

What’s wrong with my 7-year-old parakeet?

Monday, May 28th, 2012

I’m concerned with the health of my 7-year-old parakeet.   Here are some odd signs I’ve noticed in his behavior:

– aggressiveness – he was used to be very tame and friendly, now he bites my finger when I bring it close to him.

– fatigue – looks lethargic to me, refuses to leave cage, last time he flew he could only circle the room twice and when he landed, he started panting and shaking.

– he couldn’t even climb back into the cage for about 10 minutes. Most of the time, he just sits in the cage with ruffled feathers.

He is still eating fine though, and there are no signs of a fracture, tumor, loss of feathers, or anything like that.  Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? Do you think he has some kind of a vitamin deficiency? or is it just old age? What should I do? I hope someone knowledgeable can help me figure out the problem.

Thank you.

Is it normal for a cat to like eating grass?

Saturday, May 26th, 2012

I have a 2-year old calico and she is an outdoor cat. While outside she spends her time nibbling grass or meowing helplessly at out of reach birds.  I don’t use weedkillers or any chemicals on my grass, so is this behavior unhealthy for her in anyway, or is it a sign of any health problem?

I’ve only had one other outdoor cat in my life and that was when I was younger and didn’t notice details like that.

Thanks.

Sick Kitty

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

My outdoor cat, Nero, has recently started losing a lot of weight, stopped cleaning himself, gotten diarrhea and has lost his appetite… I don’t know what’s wrong with him or what it might be… I am worried it is some kind of parasite that can spread to humans and/or other animals.

I would greatly appreciate any input that can be offered.

I need help with my small bird

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

I found a small bird (sparrow?) that is probably too young to fly. What do I need to do to keep him/her alive and strong enough until ready to go off on his own? Right now, he’s on a ledge probably hoping his mom will come to feed him. What do I do? Please help.

How do I get the best relationship with a horse?

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

My aunt recently got a horse, and she said that if I take care of it whenever possible I can be part owner. It’s not very often that I can get out there to help, but I help her clean out the paddock, get more hay, clean out the trough, get the rocks out of his shoes, etc. But what I do need to know is with only seeing the horse every other week or so, how do I get the best relationship with the horse out of the time I have with him (I’m with him once every other week ). Any suggestions are welcome . He isn’t ready to be ridden yet, not old enough, almost though.

Thank you.

Why does she only thump at night? Its very loud and she wont stop until I awaken and told to her to stop; and even then when I go back to sleep she will do it again. Help!
