Dosage amount for cranberry pills to treat dog with urinary tract infection?

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I’ve read on a couple of websites about giving cranberry tablets to dogs for urinary tract infections.

None of them say what strength of tablets to use.

My dog weighs about 21 pounds.  Can someone tell me how much to give?

Jack Russel with spine problems

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Our Jack Russel is (10 yrs) having a re-occurrence of a condition she had 5 years that was diagnosed as a bulging disc by one vet and a spinal fluid infection by a specialist in Indianapolis IN.

She was blind before but vision returned with steroid treatment. This time she was having spasms and sensitivity on her left hind quarters. She is now on prednizone and a muscle relaxant…our big concern now is her inability to control her bowl movements

What can you suggest for further treatment?

Is there a vet experienced in dog seizures, a specialist?

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Hi,
I am looking for an experienced vet in dog seizures. Our family dog has been having seizures periodically and the only veterinarian in town has prescribed him medication for epilepsy without conducting any kind of tests. Another vet that used to work in that same clinic told us (when the dog was a puppy) that this dog had an enlarged heart, yet this new vet didn’t think it was something he needed to consider since “his heart sounded fine” so no tests.

We would like to get a second opinion and a more investigated diagnosis.

Could you please help us?

Incision developed lump. Question on it

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

My 11 month old Dane had OCD surgery this passed Tuesday. He is very hyper from being in the crate, he was prescribed Ace and Tramdol. He is around 150 pounds, we have tried keeping him off the leg as much as possible. His stitches looked good, he appeared like he was healing well, and today he has developed a lump filled with fluid ( feels like water buildup) below his incision.

I wanted to make sure this was normal and didn’t need to have a vet visit. Is it going to go away, or will it eventually drain out etc? Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

Puppies with parvo and now it looks like momma dog has it too

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

I have a female dog with 5 pups and they all had parvo.

I made several vet visits for treatment and they are now done with meds and are doing great.

Today I noticed the momma dog was coughing quite a bit and there was very little mucus, like she couldn’t get it out. I was looking online for what it might be. It may be kennel cough and for that I read to take your pet in a steam filled bathroom so I did that and she finally coughed up a lot of mucus she is resting comfortable now with no coughing for about an hour now.

My question is with her just getting over parvo do I need to make a trip to the vet or can this be treated at home?
