8 year old dog having trouble walking

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

We have an 8 year old dalmatian/pit bull mix who is having trouble walking with his back legs, especially his right hind leg.  He has episodes where he shakes.  He has been diagnosed with arthritis where his spine meets his tail from an episode of the same problem he had in May, now he has it again.  We have been giving him chondroitin and carprfofen which seems to help.  He has days where he seems almost ok, then days like today where we can’t get him in the car to go to he vet. We don’t know what to do.  Is a house call warranted, and if so, how much would it be?

Lame beagle needs help.

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

My beagle has been lame in his back leg for over a month. X-Rays showed very little. It could be some arthritis is his knee.  He is 6 1/2 yrs. old.

Dermaxx did not work so we now have Rimadyl and it seems a little improved after one week but no where near what I think is better.

Is acupuncture something we should try next?

Thank you.

Our 16 year old Beagle has Addison’s and Arthritis. The vet has him getting Percorten injection nearly monthly and Prednisone orally every other day. The Arthritis is pretty bad and he has a very hard time getting comfortable. The vet has now prescribed Previcox for the days he isn’t taking a prednisone. Is this safe for him?

Cat with arthritis. Does not do well with drugs. Are there alternatives?

Friday, October 26th, 2007

My 12 year old cat has been diagnosed with arthritis and she does not do well with drugs. Her vet wants to put her on a drug program, but I’d like to try something else first. I would like to know if there is an alternative to drugs, something I can give her and what dose….I have tried cod liver oil…but she is so finicky on her food if I alter it at all she stops eating. I don’t like seeing her in pain but I would like to do this on a healthier plan. Any suggestions?

Thank You
