Hello
I adopted “Buddy” from the SPCA about ten years ago and I cannot remember a time when he was not constipated.
His stool is like little round stones and he has always had a little bit of blood on his bum.
I bought him a water fountain, and with encouragement he is drinking a lot more water.
He has been on a dry cat food from the vet, good stuff, about $80 for a very large bag that lasts for more than a year as now he is eating mostly wet cat food.
Problem, he eats a lot of ” Whiska’s Treats”, which I fear is not helping with the problem. How do I stop him from eating so many of them?
I also have him eat wet catfood and a lot of his meals are with gravy from Fancy Feast.
How can I help him get over this chronic constipation that I know is causing him a lot of pain?
Thank you in advance for your help.

all the experts say dry food is dangerous for cats because it dehydrates them and leads to quicker CRF and death.
fancy feast is flavored but less healthy than more expensive canned food.
the best thing you can do IMO is buy good canned pate type foods, mix it with some water most of the time, and constantly make your cat eat soft watery food!
AND GO TO THE VET
there are many ways to remedy constipation. the best way is still to give high fiber foods and take lots of fluids. ;
