How can I splint my dogs leg, while letting the pressure sores heal?

Recently my dog had surgery on his hind leg as a result his front leg started to bow.  So, the vet put his front leg in a splint, which then developed pressure sores that need to heal, but the vet kept putting a splint back on his leg and it keeps getting worse.  I am not taking him back to that vet anymore.  The leg needs to heal and the only way the sores can heal if they have air and antiseptic.  Please help. – Amber

Amber, crate your dog and keep her quite most of the time. If she needs to be up, then use a towel like a sling around her bell to help lift her to walk. If the pressure sores ulcerate, use mylanta as a topical medicine on them. It works wonderful on bedsores in the elderly. Goodluck!
