Can a cat get sick in drinking water from a fish tank with algae?

I have a fish tank and there is green algae growing in it.  My cat has been drinking out of the tank for months, but recently the algae has really built up.  My cat has been throwing up, and it is the same color of the algae.  Is this what could be making him sick??

    Hi Jessica,

    We are not vets and we can’t diagnose online but my suggestion is to take your cat to the vet. I think very much so that the green algae was causing sickness of your cat.
