German Shephard with Tongue Lesion

I have a 3 yr old German Shepherd with a vascular lesion under her tongue. I need a good vet in my area as the one I go to doesn’t seem to care to touch it. He wants us to go to Ohio State and we can’t afford it.

Could you please tell us what we should do?

  1. Dr. Mark Logan, DVM says:

Ask your veterinarian if there are any other board certified surgeons within 100-150 miles of your town besides Ohio State. And, if there is one, go to see him/her for a consult. Your veterinarian is correct in recommending a specialist in the case of a tongue lesion/mass and you should follow up on the suggestion.

Alternative methods are often helpful to resolve or slow down progression of inflammatory, infectious, or cancerous type areas of the mouth. Have you investigated these avenues yet? These are my suggestions. I am not in your area however but would be happy to discuss things with you.
