Cushings disease, net vet referral for tests

We are full-time RVers with a dog that has the beginnings of Cushings
Disease as evidenced by the results we just received from a Dexameth
suppress, low dose. We have been advised to find a veterinarian who can
administer the higher dose dexameth suppress and then begin treatment.

We will be in Colorado Springs in late June. Any suggestions on who to perform the
test and prescribe treatment?

  1. Philip McHugh DVM, NC says:

    Dear RVers

You need to confirm the disease with clinical signs, other lab results (urinalysis, CBS, chem screen), an ACTH stimulation test and an abdominal Ultrasound.
A high-dose dexamethasone suppression test is probably not needed.
