Opossum rescued with puffy body and legs

I found a opossum female that is puffy around her body and legs? What would cause that and what can I do to help her?

    This is one of those questions that can’t be answered by email. Someone will have to look at the possum to answer your question correctly. Sometimes you can contact your county animal control and they can help you.

    Here are some things to consider: Is she pregnant? Does she have babies in her pouch???? Is she sick?
    You also should be careful and make sure you wash your hands because possums (actually opossums) can carry diseases.
