Newly adopted dog with infection. Questions to ask vet I found?

Hello,
I just adopted a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy around 4-5 months old – she has an infected right front elbow that has a draining tube but she is not on medication?

What kind of questions should I ask the veterinarian I picked on Vet Locator?

Just a little history I found her at Rhodesian Ridgeback rescues in Los Angeles she was found in a water-way in dirty water which they believe someone threw her in which caused the injury.

Thank you,

Mary

    Hi Mary,

Well done on adopting your new puppy. I can tell by your question that you have a good heart and your new puppy is very lucky you found her and brought her home.

As far as talking to her new vet, I’d discuss just what you’ve said here, especially anything you are concerned about. It’s important to feel you have a good bond and working relationship with the vet you choose to entrust your dog’s health to, so take your time when talking to no only the doctor, but the staff at the hospital.

Our best wishes for a long and happy life for your new girl.
