I am currently treating a 2 year old labradoodle with congenital mega esophagus. I don’t think that there is any homeopathic remedy that will help, as this is likely a malformation of the nerves. I have found metoclopramide (Reglan) to be helpful. This drug helps promote forward gastrointestinal motility and opens the pyloric valve at the opening of the stomach into the small intestine. It doesn’t help the esophagus, but does move the food along when it gets to the stomach. The owners of this dog were quite resourceful and have constructed a chair for the dog to sit in while feeding this keeps him upright until the food gets into the stomach. They found the plans on a web support group for canine mega esophagus. I also recommend “dancing ” with your dog after feeding. Hold him up by his front paws and “dance” with him to encourage emptying of the esophagus.
