Ear Mites Spreading in Cats

Can ear mites be spread by something like me wearing the same shirt to handle the infected kitten and then handling my other cats? He’s been quarantined since we found him, but his vet appointment isn’t until Tuesday and he wants to cuddle and be held all the time. I wash my hands after, but I have picked up one of my cats after this and am wondering if I’m taking enough precautions.

Ear mites are highly contagious. It’s very easy for other cats to get infected in multiple-cat homes. An uninfected cat can get ear mites from anything that the infected cat comes into contact with regularly or for any period of time, like bedding, toys, furniture, etc. So if the uninfected cats come into contact with anything that has had liberal contact with the infected cat, even clothing, they can become infected.

    Good luck!
