My cat has crazy bad dandruff. I tried bathing her a while back but she freaked out and pooped in the tub. We brush her at least once a day. She didn’t used to have a problem, and we haven’t made a sudden change in her diet or environment. Can someone help me? It’s gross.

Hi Kelly! Bathing your cat will only worsen the problem by drying out her skin anyway, especially if she’s uncooperative since any soap residue is extremely difficult to rinse out completely. Any leftover soap will dry on the skin resulting in an even bigger dandruff problem. Cat dandruff can be the result of a lack of Omega-3s, a an environmental or food allergy, feline diabetes, obesity, parasites, or infection. Has anything changed in your home like carpeting, upholstered furniture, food, cleaners, anything else that she could possibly be allergic to? If it’s just a dietary lack of Omega-3s, a fish oil supplement to her diet. Just remember to use a supplement that is guaranteed pure by the FDA to avoid mercury contamination.
Good luck.
