Tapeworms are not directly transmitted from a pet to humans. We are susceptible to tapeworms, but only by actually ingesting a flea. If the pet sleeps in bed with the child be very careful as it could be possible for fleas to get into the mouth of the child. Make sure you not only treat your pet for the tape worm, but also the fleas.
