Rescue cat with a litany of problems. I need suggestions

I got my cat from the humane society 6 weeks ago. I brought him home with severe coughing, chronic sneezing, Chlymadia in the eyes, ear infections and ear mites. In the last 6 weeks, the Vet has given him 4 shots 3 rounds of antibiotics ear drops and eye ointment (twice a day)…and he is still sick. I need help!!! My cat and myself are getting very weary!!!

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

find a vet to prescribe azithromycin for him–very much a miracle antibiotic for chlamydia in cats but not all vets know about it.

Your vet can have your cat start l-lysine at 500 mg daily (it comes in a gel called Enisyl and a powder that goes in food called Viralys). This is helpful for cats with viral infections. If he has a lot of chronic sneezing and nasal discharge, he may have a polyp from the middle ear to the pharynx (I’ve removed several of these from cats with chronic nasal discharge). They can grow back and some cats will need to have a middle ear surgery for complete resolution, but it does vastly improve quality of life. As for the ear mites, the easiest treatment is called Acarexx, and is a single dose treatment applied at the vet’s office. It may be a good idea to recheck his feline leukemia and FIV status. if he’s been harboring an immunosuppressive virus it can explain the difficulty in treating his various problems.
You are to be applauded for your efforts in caring for your new kitty. Good luck!!

If not used already, I would place him on oral Azythromycin, terramycin opthalmic ointment, idoxuridine eye drops, and treat the kitten with advantage multi.
