I think my 7 year old Border Collie has hip dysplasia. He had hip problems last summer but he got well with plenty of gentle activity and good food. Now it has started again. Two days ago he was as right as rain and then suddenly his back legs collapsed. Now he can only shuffle. How can I help him? I can’t afford a vet. tomorrow I am taking him to the vet. I can’t stand to see him suffer, I need to help him. – Rosie

Hip Dysplasia is genetic and will show itself in puppies as young as 4 months. If your dog has had no symptoms until recently, then it may be age-related or injury-related instead. Rosie, your dog seriously needs a vet. Call your local SPCA and ask them to recommend a low cost vet for you. I don’t think it’s right to leave your dog like this.
